The search begins ….

Today I started the search for the software to unite the social media world.  I use many different social media outlets, and wished there was a way to share information to all the outlets with one click.  If anyone has a suggestion as to a good solution please let me know..

Windows live and wordpress...

I just found out that windows live will be getting rid of its spaces section.  The alternative that they advise is to migrate you windows live blog to wordpress.  Do any of you use wordpress, what do you think of it?  i have been pretty happy using blogger.  In addition, most of what i use is based around google.  Maybe i can try to integrate my wordpress blog into blogger.....Any thoughts??

The Switch to Linux...pt. 2

I think that i am going to wait until the next version of Ubuntu comes out and give it a try before I go back to Windows.  Unless the new release of Ubuntu has better video drivers so that the video is not as
choppy, Not that it is terrible i would just like to see it a little more smooth.  Another thing that i would like to see happen for Linux is some improvement in the app department.  I have to say that I really do miss Microsoft Office and Windows Live.  I do not have these things in linux, as i strive to find a replacements for them i am slowly realizing that it may not happen.  Also i am looking for a better blogging app so that i do not have to get on the internet to post a blog.  What is the best blogging app out there??  Until next time,  keep it real!!!

The Switch to Linux...

I continue to use Ubuntu as my main os, but I find myself missing Windows 7.  I'll be honest, when it comes to software, im very attracted to ease of use and the visual impact that it has.  I also like how things on windows just seem to be smoother.  For example, you still cannot video chat with an aim client in linux, you can in windows.  I have also noticed that in windows, certain things run faster.  One of the biggest things that i noticed is that the streaming video quality from the web is noticibly better in windows.  And there are other small things that just make the whole experience smoother.  So that is all I have for now.  Until next time, keep it real.

Ubuntu 10.04....

So I have been attempting the switch to Linux as my primary OS, it has been about two weeks now and i really have not had to use Windows for anything except to pull my important stuff off of. I have found good alternatives for most everything that i used on Windows. For now it appears to be going very smooth. I will keep you updated, and will give you my thoughts. Till then, keep it real!!!

Do any of you have new toys that you are completely loving.   Let me know, leave a comment.

The official switch to linux

Ok people, so the last week at work I have been using Outlook, and everytime i open an email for my job, outlook had to think about life while it did it. Only with the emails from one site, and only with Outlook. I got so fed up that I came home tonight and installed Ubuntu as a full install. What do you guys think of the new linux? What is your favorite flavor of linux??

Microsoft Bing Vs. Google - Search Engine Wars

Microsoft Bing Vs. Google - Search Engine Wars

I recently have been playing with Microsoft's newest search engine, Bing. There were a few thing that i noticed that it has over Google. I also noticed a few major things that made it less formidable than Google. Let's start with the positives. Bing does auto correct any spelling errors that you make as opposed to asking you if you "Meant to look for " something. When looking for videos, the results come up in a grid arrangement of images, as you run your mouse over the result images, the video will start playing right there, no redirecting to where the video is hosted. AWESOME!!!! The look and feel was more user interactive than Google. Now for the things that made it a few steps short of Google. If you use services like Blogger, or any other Google based software, you will have a hard time using these services. For example, Google chrome allows for direct Blogging from a website without having to go to your Blog site, via the use of The Blogger service i can post a blog from within the browser. Bing does not allow you to do this. The results that Google pulls up are much more numerous that that of Bing. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. If you are looking for something specific Google is going to pull up way more than you need. It also makes the time it takes to display the results a little bit longer. Not that you will have to go and get a cup of coffee, but it will take a moment of two longer. However this does afford you the option to search for the best information for you, as you see fit.
Over all I think both are good, but each for its own reasons. I am going to continue to use Google, but will continue to check Bing out, as they mature, to see if they move into Google's territory.

Linux….To switch or not to switch. That is the question.

UBUNTU

So now that the semester comes to a close, my sole need for windows is a little less important, as i will not need Visual studio on a regular basis I have starting thinking that i might make the official switch to Ubuntu.  However there is one major factor that is stopping me from switching completely to linux is that the Video is very much less than stellar, and still no near where near that of Windows.  If Ubuntu could get the level of the webcam software and video up to the level that windows is at, it might just sway my vote almost totally toward Linux.  I would still need Visual Studio on occasion, so i couldn’t totally get rid of Windows.

LINUX?????

Signs>>>

Do you believe in signs?  Like when there are a bunch of things that go wrong with one scenario, and it just seems like something is telling you something.  I don’t  believe in signs but there seems to be many things acting as speed bumps while I attempt to finalize the details with the car.  What do you think, do you believe in signs??

Car search

I have spent the majority of my free time in the last week attempting to procure a new vehicle.  I have come to the conclusion that unless you are wealthy, or your parents work for GM, the system that is in place now makes it impossible for an average guy to get a good car at a reasonable price.  What is this about?  you need a car to get to work to make money, however you need money to get the car to make the money.  In most cases you need A LOT of money to get the car.  Is it just me or does this seem a little counterproductive?  I mean really, what does an average guy have to to to get a decent car, at a good price?  I almost feel like im just not supposed to have a car.  Really?  Have I not earned at least that much.  I think the system is effed, and its time for an overhaul!!!!

I hate reinstalling windows….

So i just had to reinstall Windows because one of the programs that i use for school was not performing as it should.  It was also time to do some spring cleaning, Ya know, start fresh, get rid of all the crap that you dont use anymore, the only thing that makes reinstalling, is the fear of did i back everything up???   Humph!!  i guess it is just one of the things we learn to accept
